A timely Green Hydra discussion for Latvia’s hydrogen market

On 23 April 2026, from 14:00 to 17:00, stakeholders will gather at the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Kr. Valdemāra iela 35, Riga, for the seminar “Latvia’s Hydrogen Ecosystem: Opportunities, Barriers and Support Solutions.” Organised within the Green Hydra project and in cooperation with the Ministry of Economics, the event is designed to move the Latvian hydrogen discussion closer to practical market development. Its core focus is the next step for the section on climate-neutral technologies, green hydrogen production, and ecosystem development within Latvia’s Sustainable Energy Technology Development Plan to 2035.

What will be discussed

The programme combines policy context, market debate, and practical stakeholder input. After arrival and opening remarks, the agenda turns to Latvia’s Sustainable Energy Technology Development Plan to 2035, followed by an open discussion on hydrogen development prospects over the next 10–15 years and the role of subsidies in building the hydrogen ecosystem. The second half of the seminar is particularly relevant for project developers and industry participants: it includes a group exercise on the main strategic barriers and priority investment areas, followed by a discussion on the next EU support perspective for hydrogen and the principles for attracting private investment. Networking is scheduled after the formal closing.

Why this matters for hydrogen stakeholders in Latvia

This is the kind of gathering that helps turn broad hydrogen ambition into clearer signals for business, policy, and investment. For Latvia, the value lies not only in discussing future opportunities, but in openly addressing the barriers that still slow project development, funding readiness, and industrial uptake. HydrogenLatvia therefore encourages the participants and supporters of the Latvian Hydrogen Alliance, as well as wider hydrogen and renewable energy stakeholders, to join the seminar and contribute to a more coordinated view on where Latvia’s hydrogen ecosystem should focus next. Registration for the event is mandatory.
