Hydrogen Valleys Days will return for its third edition on 4-8 May 2026 in Antwerp, hosted at the Port House of the Port of Antwerp-Bruges. The week will combine project pipeline discussions, policy sessions and a dedicated mobility workshop, with site visits planned at the end of the programme.

The Clean Hydrogen Partnership has announced the third edition of Hydrogen Valleys Days, scheduled for 4-8 May 2026 in Antwerp, Belgium, at the Port House of the Port of Antwerp-Bruges.
Why Hydrogen Valleys matter (and why this event is useful)
In EU language, a Hydrogen Valley is a regional ecosystem where hydrogen production, distribution and end-use are developed together, with a clear link between supply and demand. The practical value of the Hydrogen Valleys approach is that it forces projects to address the full chain: permitting and grid connection, offtake and bankability, logistics, safety, skills, and day-to-day operations.
For Latvia and the wider Baltic region, this is a relevant lens because many of our decarbonisation use cases are geographically concentrated (ports, industrial sites, airports, logistics corridors) and depend on coordinated infrastructure planning. Events like Hydrogen Valleys Days are therefore less about announcements and more about comparing what is actually being deployed, what is failing to scale, and what governance and financing structures are proving workable.
What is planned during 4-8 May 2026
Based on the published outline, the week is structured around several anchor moments:
Tuesday, 5 May: European Clean Hydrogen Alliance Forum (European Commission)
Focus: linking Hydrogen Valleys and other flagship projects with the Alliance community, aligning project pipelines with industrial priorities, market uptake and investment perspectives.
Wednesday, 6 May: Public high-level policy event (Clean Hydrogen Partnership and European Commission)
Focus: the role of EU Hydrogen Valleys as an engine for competitiveness in Europe’s regions.
Thursday, 7 May: Invitation-only workshop on Hydrogen Mobility (Clean Hydrogen Partnership and Japan’s NEDO)
Focus: mobility projects and wider applications.
Friday, 8 May: Stakeholder activities and site visits
Additional internal meetings are planned throughout the week.
The programme also notes the presence of the Energy Observer vessel in the Port of Antwerp-Bruges during the Hydrogen Valleys Days.
A few points worth tracking (from a Latvia's / Baltic perspective)
If you are following Hydrogen Valleys primarily as a deployment instrument (rather than a branding label), a few questions tend to separate mature ecosystems from early-stage ones:
Demand aggregation and offtake credibility. Which end-users are signing up, on what contract structures, and with what price/indexation logic?
Infrastructure sequencing. What is built first (production, import terminals, pipelines/trailers, refuelling, storage), and how are utilisation risks managed in the first years?
Power system integration. How are projects handling grid connection timelines, curtailment risk, and the operational reality of variable renewable electricity?
Permitting, safety and local acceptance. What templates (safety cases, zoning approaches, stakeholder engagement) are being reused successfully across regions?
Financing and public support design. How are projects combining EU instruments, national support and private capital, and what conditions are actually bankable?
Hydrogen Valleys Days is one of the few formats that tries to keep these topics connected, because the audience spans policy, industry, ports, technology providers and financiers.
