The European Hydrogen Skills Stakeholder Conference in Brussels brought together the European Commission, industry, researchers and VET providers to focus on one pressing issue: how to build the workforce Europe’s hydrogen economy now needs. The discussion was framed by the scale of the challenge, with around 1 million skilled jobs in the hydrogen value chain expected by 2030.
The programme combined keynote insights, a high-level panel on upskilling and reskilling, and project presentations covering the European Hydrogen Skills Strategy, the core VET curriculum, the training programme and a gamified learning tool for hydrogen education. A dedicated sister-project panel also explored how European initiatives can better align hydrogen skills development across countries and institutions.
The clearest message was that hydrogen in Europe is moving from planning into delivery, and that practical, industry-aligned training is becoming a strategic enabler for deployment. For those who could not attend, the conference organisers have made the presentation slides available online and we are reposting them as well.
